Resin Projects
Working with my hands is a good way for me to feel more involved with my projects. I started experimenting with resin as a project medium at MCAD. It was something new that I was interested in learning how to use it effectively because I felt that it could push my design work in a new direction and open my skills to more than just digital work. I love creating and building with my hands as much as I love designing.
Working with wood has always been something that I enjoyed. I wanted to combine resin and wood to create a live edge resin river coffee table. It involved cutting the wood, measuring out the correct volume of resin and pouring it so it could cure and bind to the wood properly. From there I had to build the legs and supports to improve it’s stability. It’s one of my favorite pieces I’ve made and still resides with me today.

The project below was based on pollution and I created a beach ring out of a sand/resin mixture and created a water effect with dyes and alcohol inks. I embedded pieces of trash into the water by layering resin and creating a “cake” effect within the piece. It’s final presentation was placed upon a trash bag because I felt that it was important to show that something beautiful can still be sitting upon something rotten.
